Malaysian Cotton Candy Torch (5-Head Colony)
( Euphyllia glabrescens )
Collector-Grade Description
The Malaysian Cotton Candy Torch is a highly coveted torch morph, and this multi-head colony offers immediate, breathtaking impact in your reef. This beautiful 5-head specimen displays the intense, dual-coloration that makes this variety so desirable:
-
Tentacles: Long, flowing, electric neon-green polyps that glow with high saturation.
-
Tips: Contrasting, perfectly rounded pastel pink to lavender tips, giving the coral its sweet "Cotton Candy" name.
Unlike the common Indo varieties, Malaysian torches are often prized for their superior color intensity and hardiness. This colony of five well-formed heads provides maximum coverage and dramatic motion, instantly establishing itself as a focal point in any high-end LPS garden.
Care Requirements & Placement
Torch corals (Euphyllia) are relatively easy to care for but require stable conditions and proper placement to prevent tissue damage.
| Parameter | Ideal Range |
| Lighting | Moderate (100–200 PAR). Acclimate slowly. |
| Water Flow | Moderate, Indirect. Flow should allow the tentacles to sway gently. Avoid direct blast. |
| Placement | Mid-level rockwork, ensuring at least 6 inches of space from neighboring corals (except other Euphyllia). |
| Stability | Crucial! Maintain stable Alkalinity (≈8−9 dKH) and Calcium. |
| Feeding | Benefits from occasional target feeding of meaty foods (Mysis, plankton) 1-2 times per week to boost growth and vitality. |
Note: Torches are known to send out long sweeper tentacles at night that can sting and damage neighboring corals. Plan placement carefully to give this beautiful 5-head colony the room it needs to flourish.
